Adventure tourism: a way to travel with many benefits. Take our quiz to find your next adventure!

Nothing is wrong with casual holidays. Sometimes feeling a Mediterranean sea breeze in your hair while sipping a fresh Mojito might be exactly what you need, what you’re meant to do. But when the usual experiences start to feel a little underwhelming and we secretly wish for more, more challenges, more purpose, deeper memories… Adventure travel is a way to enrich your life in many ways and bring this missing piece. This style of travel isn’t just for mountaineers, it’s for anyone curious, active, and brave enough to try something new.

The benefits of choosing to travel this way

Cheers to the many benefits of travelling this way! For me, the anticipation alone is part of the thrill; packing the right gear, wondering why you are doing it, imagining the moments that scares you, sharing your madness with your friends… it just hits differently.

a path to growth

I’ve always been more excited about trips I knew would challenge me. Those trips where you feel a little nervous in the lead-up, a gentle stress building, wondering if you can do it. And then you succeed. It could be a long hike you weren’t sure your legs could handle, navigating a tiny village where no one speaks your language, or trying something completely new that you’d normally shy away from. A challenging environment gets you to experience many emotions and learn about yourself quickly.

doing things off the beaten track

One of the best things about adventure travel is that it often forces you off the beaten track. Instead of sticking to “touristic” places, you stumble across quiet streets, secret beaches, or mountain trails that few tourists know about. You get to experience the immensity of this world all by yourself. There’s a thrill in being somewhere not everyone else is. It makes the trip feel truly yours, even if you’ve planned everything to the last detail.

connection with nature

Usually, adventure travel also implies time spent in nature. The ocean, the mountains, the forests, the lakes, the deserts. There’s something about being surrounded by the natural world that is humbling, grounding, and oddly thrilling. You feel small in a way that lets you breathe, take a step back, and realize the tiny stresses of home aka the boss, the emails, the traffic. None of it is really that scary anymore. It reconnects you with yourself and the world in a way nothing else quite does.

confidence workout

Adventure travel is the ultimate confidence workout. Every little challenge whether physical, mental, or social, builds self-belief. When no help is available but you and the few people you surround yourself with, it is truly empowering. You become in charge of your health, your safety and of others. You are the rock and when you realize you can handle it? It changes how you approach life, both on the road and back home.

authentic socializing

Finally, sharing challenges with others encourages authentic connections. You meet people not at a tourist bar or a guided tour, but in moments that really matter . On a strenuous hike, while sharing the lack of comfort in a small mountain hut, supporting each other through difficult times. These encounters are memorable because they’re real and often teach you more about the world and yourself than any museum or landmark ever could.

Adventure travel isn’t one-size-fits-all

There’s more than just climbing mountains or sleeping in tents At its heart, it’s about exploring the world in a meaningful, exciting way. And the truth is, adventure can look very different depending on the day, the mood, or even the phase of life you’re in. Sometimes I want to be roughed up a bit, trekking through mountains or paddling across rivers, and sometimes a gentle discovery like eating a spicy local meal is more than enough.

soft adventure

Soft adventure is about curiosity and enjoyment without pushing physical limits. Think scenic hikes, wandering hidden villages, discovering local cuisine, wandering markets, or enjoying a beautiful coastal path. It’s about seeing the world in a fresh way while staying comfortable and indulging in small surprises.

active adventure

Active adventure is about movement. It’s cycling through rolling hills, kayaking on a glassy lake, trekking a multi-day route, or snowshoeing across crisp winter landscapes. It’s for the kind of woman who loves a little sweat with her scenery, who wants to feel the earth under her feet and her body working as part of the experience.

wild adventure

Wild adventure is for the risk-takers, the thrill-seekers, or anyone craving true remoteness. It could be off-grid Icelandic hikes, trekking in Norway’s wild backcountry, or camping in deserts where the stars feel impossibly close. It’s about going somewhere few have been and testing what you’re capable of. Physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Whether you want to wander europe’s hidden gems or trek snowy mountains, there’s a style of adventure for every woman — and the first step is figuring out which one fits you best.
